My name is Mary Toland, I am active in the community that's why I travelled with the Dundrum Arch club. I went to Barretstown house where the movie star Paul newman opened it by an opening cerimony and we also visited the castle in Co Kildare from friday the 2nd to the 4th Feb.
Barretstown is for very sick children aged 1 to 15 years old. I felt very valuable helping the kids with all their needs. Some of them were not able to speak or see. When they saw me with the Barreststown T-shirt and bracelet they put up the best smile I have ever seen in the whole word.
Barretstown is a really nice place with such loving carers wich they are called ''caras'' that means friend in Irish. The castle was set up like a fairy tale dream from a movie.
There are many friendly animals such as horses, dogs, hampsters, sheep, rabbits and donkeys. All the animals are named after children who have passed away.
The meals are served with fresh juices & fruits, giant donuts and big muffins.
They also presented a speacial show.
It was a fantastic weekend!
I will never forget the their hospitality.
