Green Ribbon Day

On the 22nd of May 2018 in the Jervis shopping centre a group from Cherryfield centre set up their stand to hand out both green ribbons and leaflets to the good people who filtered through. It was slow to get going and to get the passer-by’s to take a ribbon and leaflet but as the day wore on the boxes of ribbons began to lessen as they seemed to be the most popular and the easiest item to be taken. There were a few people who thought money had to be exchanged in order to get a ribbon but once they heard it was free they were happy, there were other people who asked what does the ribbon represent which once explained got them interested and talking.

All in all the day was successful. A lot of ribbons were handed out and the people were given the information. Before we all separated for home we sat at seated area where we had sandwiches, fizzy drinks and the choice of crisps or a banana all under the blue sky and warm glow of the sun. After the fizzy liquids were downed with delight and the crisps and bananas were eaten with glee we all headed off in different directions, destination home.
